Dental Crown
Dental crowns and bridges, also known as “crowns,” are used to improve the shape and function of damaged or missing teeth. Crowns are used to cover and strengthen weak teeth, while bridges are used to replace missing teeth by securing an artificial tooth between crowns placed on the adjacent teeth. These restorations are made from materials such as porcelain, zirconia, and E-max.

What are crowns and bridges (crown)?
Crowns and bridges are used to replicate the shape and function of natural teeth. They are made from various materials to match the shape and color of the original teeth. Dental crowns, also known as caps, are used to restore teeth by covering the exposed surface of the tooth to strengthen and improve its appearance. Crowns can cover damaged or broken teeth and are also used in dental implants to replace missing teeth.
Dental bridges are restorative solutions used to replace one or more missing teeth. These bridges consist of connected artificial teeth that fill the gap left by lost teeth, and they are secured by attaching them to the adjacent teeth with crowns placed on these teeth for support. Crowns and bridges are designed to match the natural shape of the teeth and enhance their strength, and they are available in various types made from different materials.
What are the advantages of a crown?
Dental crowns are also known as dental caps. It is preferable to use dental crowns in cases of damage or fractures to the outer surface of the teeth, in cases of tooth discoloration or deformities, in cases of superficial tooth decay, and during root canal treatments to protect the tooth from further damage.
Dental crowns are preferred when the outer surface of the tooth is damaged but the tooth’s roots are still healthy. In this case, the dentist will opt for a crown instead of extracting the tooth to protect the roots and strengthen the tooth.

When do we resort to dental crowns?
Dental crowns are considered one of the most important techniques used in many cases to protect or replace teeth. Here are some situations in which dental crowns are used:
1- In cases of severe decay, where the tooth becomes weak after the decay is removed, dental crowns are used to support the tooth.
2- In cases of tooth fracture.
3- In cases of fixed bridge installation or to replace one or more lost teeth.
4- In cases of tooth staining, deformities, or misalignment, dental crowns are used to provide an aesthetic appearance.
